Lunch and literature in a lovely setting

Our sister Centre in Harrogate is holding a unique event on Sunday 10th September.  The Sun Pavilion in the beautiful setting of the Valley Gardens will be the venue for a literary lunch.  This will feature the latest book from Lama Jampa Thaye, who is a world renowned Buddhist Master, scholar and author.

‘Wisdom in Exile’ considers the space for Buddhism in our modern culture and how we should conduct ourselves in this world.  It argues that Buddhism offers an authentic way to liberation in the contemporary world but must resist the temptation to assimilate into the ruling ideologies of our age.  It delineates the distinctive features of Buddhist thought and practice, as well as presenting the training in meditation and compassion that is the heart of the Buddhist path.

“Wisdom in Exile proposes a fresh approach to Buddhism, one in which the fundamental tenets of the Buddha’s teachings are rediscovered.” His Holiness the 41st Sakya Trizin, Head of the Sakya School of Tibetan Buddhism

“I think that this book will be beneficial in helping Western practitioners to avoid some of the pitfalls of cultural and spiritual misunderstanding.” His Holiness the 17th Karmapa, Head of the Karma-Kagyu School of Tibetan Buddhism

Tickets for the event must be purchased in advance.  To find out more visit  ticket information.
