Navigating Life and Awakening to Peace
Intrigued by the title? Want to explore what this might mean?
Then come along to the Greater Manchester Buddhist Convention (GMBC) annual event on Saturday 14 October. This is a unique inter-Buddhist gathering, open to anyone from the North West. It is an opportunity to meet socially with other practitioners and those interested in Buddhism.
The GMBC aims to bring different Buddhist schools together to increase our mutual understanding and create dialogue and engagement. The event is attended by a wide variety of different Buddhist schools, including Tibetan, Zen, Chan, Theravada, Korean and others. On the day there will be many different presentations, delivered by practitioners of these schools, that will provide an opportunity to experience a wide range of different Buddhist perspectives.
Dechen will be represented at the event by John Rowan, who will present a workshop entitled ‘Taking control of your destiny’. Other members of our community will be running a stall to advertise Kagyu Ling’s meditation classes and promote Lama Jampa Thaye’s latest book, ‘Wisdom in Exile’, so feel free to come along and chat to us.
The event begins at 9.00 am and people interested in Buddhism are welcome to drop in for sessions throughout the day. It will be held at St Peter’s House Chaplaincy, Oxford Road, Manchester M13 9GH. A free vegetarian lunch will be provided.
