Christmas break and retreat at Kagyu Ling

Meditation classes at Kagyu Ling Buddhist Centre will take a break over Christmas, and the annual Chenrezi retreat will be held.

The last class of 2019 at Kagyu Ling will be on Friday 20 December and the first class of 2020 will be on Friday 3 January.

The retreat runs on 28, 29 and 30 December 2019. So if you feel like a break from the festivities, why not come along?

There will be 4 sessions each day and you can drop in for any or all of them, whether you have meditation experience or not.

The focus is the meditation practice of Chenrezi. To take part fully you must have received the reading transmission for the practice, but anyone is welcome to sit in on the sessions, which all include a period of quiet meditation.

Session times will be: 9.00am-10.30am, 11.30am-1.00pm, 2.00pm-3.30pm and 4.00pm-5.30pm. You can choose to sit on the floor or on a chair – whichever is more comfortable for you.

To maintain the atmosphere of peace during the retreat, silence is observed during the breaks between sessions except at lunchtime. A simple lunch is provided each day.

There is no fee for attending the retreat, although people are invited to sponsor it and ask for dedications. Check out this link if you’d like to do so.

Kagyu Ling will be closed for all other activities, including pujas, during the retreat.

Many of the meditation classes run by the Kagyu Dechen Buddhism groups in the north west will also be taking a break over the festive period so please check the group pages, and What’s On, for details.
