Tuesdays 9.45am to 10.45 am.
Our classes introduce you to calm-abiding meditation, through which we can develop a stable, clear and peaceful state of mind. You can then hear a brief explanation of a key Buddhist teaching, followed by a period of individual contemplation. There is no need to book – just come along – and there is no charge. Newcomers are always welcome.
New course starting in May 2019
Over six weeks, starting on 7 May 2019, we will listen to brief recordings of a talk given by Lama Jampa Thaye. The recordings were made in 2016 when Lama Jampa gave a talk entitled “Arriving at Inner Freedom,” in which he gave an overview of the Buddhist path and how we can apply the teachings to our own lives.
Week 1 – External and Internal Freedoms
Week 2 – Ignorance
Week 3 – Engaging with the Path; Moral Behaviour and Meditation
Week 4 – Precious Human Birth; Impermanence
Week 5 – Karma; Suffering; Renunciation
Week 6 – Loving Kindness and Compassion
Each session will start with a period of calm-abiding meditation and conclude with a period of reflection on the topic. The meditation session is open to all who wish to practise meditation. The audio sessions and reflection are open to anyone with a genuine interest in Buddhism.
