Saturday sessions – Jewel Ornament of Liberation
A series of monthly Saturday sessions on Gampopa’s key foundation text, the Jewel Ornament of Liberation, is underway at Kagyu Ling, offering an ideal introduction to Buddhism for beginners.
Lama Jampa, who teaches the Jewel Ornament at the Manchester shedra, has asked Jonathan Macaskill and John Sainsbury, the Kagyu Ling co-ordinators, to follow up his teachings by going through the text from the beginning.
This provides an introduction to the key points of Buddhism for beginners, as Gampopa’s text covers the whole Buddhist path from its starting point to the achievement of enlightenment.
It also serves as a refresher for people who attended the teachings in Manchester, and enable anyone who missed a session to plug the gap. There will be time for questions and discussion.
2022 dates for Jewel Ornament Saturday sessions

All run from 10am to 12.30pm, with a short refreshment break at about 11am.

There is no need to book in advance, either for the in-person class at Kagyu Ling or the zoom event. And you don’t need to commit to attend every session – you can just dip in and out for specific sections of the text where you might want a better understanding.
There is no charge but a suggested contribution of £3 would be welcomed, if you can afford it, for each class you attend either at Kagyu Ling or online. You can donate online.
