Social Saturday and Karmapa lineage talk at Kagyu Ling

Karmapa There will be a special talk about the Karmapa lineage at Kagyu Ling Buddhist Centre’s next Social Saturday on 13 July 2024.

As part of the build up to the visit of HH Karmapa, Geoff Ashmore will present a short survey of the Karmapa lineage from its beginnings to the present day.

The talk will be at 11.30am – 12.30pm, in place of the usual second meditation session during the Social Saturday.

You can also join the talk on zoom:  Karmapa talk.

Geoff’s presentation is based on a teaching given by Lama Jampa in Yorkshire in 2002 on the Karma Kagyu tradition and will have a particular focus on the relevance and connections to our own dharma practice and study. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Social Saturdays

Meditate in the morning, enjoy lunch and then help with jobs around the centre in the afternoon.

It’s a great opportunity to practise meditation with others. Beginners are welcome and there will be an explanation of the simple technique of calm-abiding meditation.

You’re welcome to stay and chat over lunch and in the afternoon you can lend a hand with gardening, cleaning, or repairs. All are welcome – if you can make a cup of tea and/or do a bit of dusting there is a job for you!

Meditation sessions are at 10am and 11.30am.

Lunch is served at 12.30pm and work will begin around 1.30pm.

Feel free to drop in for one session or to stay all day, and if you can’t come along this time then make a note of the  social Saturday dates later this year: 10 August; 5 October; 2 November; 7 December.
