Saraswati Sunday

  • Kagyu Ling Buddhist Centre 45 Manor Drive Manchester, England, M21 7QG United Kingdom (map)

Join us for the fourth Saraswati Sundays gathering — an afternoon of creativity, contemplation, and community at Kagyu Ling Buddhist Centre.

Our February theme, “The Art of Hair Wraps & Feather Hats,” invites us into playful transformation — combining usefulness with creativity.

Together we will create:

• Temporary or removable clip-in hair decorations using colourful threads, beads, shells and feathers
• Upcycled hats adorned with beads, string and feathers

This session explores hair as canvas, feathers as story — small details that bring delight to the everyday. Practical beauty for everyday adventures. Joy, wrapped and worn.

Naturally playful. Beautifully worn.
A little magic you can wear on your head.

As always, we begin with a shared lunch — hearty soups and stews, served with sourdough bread (with butter!) that Manchester can be proud of — before moving into the creative session.

All materials are provided.
(feel free to bring your own hats to decorate)

All ages and abilities are welcome
(children and under-18s should be accompanied by an adult)

There is no fee to attend — generosity is central to the spirit of the project, and donations are welcome to support future sessions.

About Saraswati Sundays
Saraswati Sundays is an ongoing series of creative afternoons led by artists Tanja Jäger and Zoë Lauren McLean, exploring Buddhist themes through art, craft, and creative reflection. Designed to bring together Buddhists, their families, friends and neighbours, these gatherings offer a joyful way to share space, nourish relationships, and engage with the Dharma through the arts.

Adorn. Express. Transform.
